Israeli defense technology company Elbit Systems plans to open two sites in Morocco, announced the head of Israel’s liaison office in Rabat Shai Cohen.
In a press conference, Cohen elaborated that the two sites will produce defense systems, one of which will be opened in the city of Casablanca.
The move comes at a time when Moroccan-Israeli ties are seeing remarkable advancements in several areas, particularly in the security and defense sectors.
Israeli troops took part for the first time in the “African Lion” multinational military exercise in Morocco, along with Moroccan, Ghanaian, and U.S. soldiers.
The Israeli-Moroccan resumption of ties occurred in December, 2020 as part of the U.S.-brokered Abraham Accords.
The Knesset Speaker recently visited Morocco and called on the Israeli Government to support formally and clearly the Moroccan identity of the Sahara.
Elbit Systems is an international high-technology company engaged in a wide range of programs throughout the world, primarily in the defense and homeland security arenas.
