11 political parties did not return unused support funds amounting to 1,360,982.87 MAD, including the National Rally of Independents party (in power), according to the Audit Court.
The report issued Thursday, on electoral campaigns’ audit for September 8, 2021 ballot concerning the election of Lower House members, shows that the parties which did not return the money are the Reform and Development Party (405,559.94 MAD), the Democratic Society Party (331,450.33 MAD), the Constitutional Union Party (203,978.49 MAD), the New Democrats Party (193,111.17 MAD), and the National Rally of Independents (82,996.24 MAD).
According to the same report, the Democratic Forces Front Party (41,680.00 MAD), the Istiqlal Party (35,181.30 MAD), the Al Amal Party (27,064.00 MAD), the Social and Democratic Vanguard Party (18,546,000 MAD), the Unified Socialist Party (11,809.00 MAD), and the Popular Movement Party are also on the list.
The Court of Audit called on the aforementioned parties to return the unused support funds to the treasury pursuant to Article 43 of Organizational Law No. 29.11 and Article 5 of Decree No. 2.16.667.
The report also revealed unjustified spending of a total amount of 1,767,285.50 MAD, which represents 1% of the declared expenditures.
The report also noted that two parties spent 103,540,000 MAD outside the set time for the electoral campaign, in addition to sums granted by 9 parties to candidates whose names are not on their electoral lists or who did not run for the Lower House membership.
