Knesset Speaker of Moroccan origin Amir Ohana stated, on Thursday at a press conference after his meeting with Speaker of the Moroccan Lower House Rachid Talbi Alami, that “the Sahara is Moroccan” and “May God bless King Mohammed VI”.
Ohana, who was speaking in Moroccan dialect “darija”, called on the Israeli Government to support, formally and clearly, the Moroccan identity of the Sahara, emphasizing that history proves that this land is and will remain Moroccan.
Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister, will soon decide on this matter, he said, noting that the discussions are “moving forward.”
The Israeli official applauded King Mohammed VI’s leadership and vision which promotes peace.
He went on to say that King Mohammed VI, like his grandfather, King Mohammed V, and his father, King Hassan II, is striving diligently to safeguard Morocco’s Jewish heritage.
Ohana is on a visit to the Kingdom following an invitation from Talbi Alami to grow diplomatic ties, which have evolved through ongoing collaborations between their offices.
