Mohamed Moâtassim, former advisor to King Mohammed VI, passed away on Monday at the age of 67.
The prominent professor and politician, born in Settat in 1956, obtained a bachelor’s degree in political science from the Faculty of Law of Rabat in 1977, two postgraduate degrees from the same institution in political science and international relations, and in 1983 received a postgraduate diploma from the Faculty of Law of Casablanca.
He defended his doctoral thesis on “The Traditional Development of Moroccan Constitutional Law” in 1988.
Moâtassim held a variety of prestigious posts. In 1993 and 1994, he was named Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister, with responsibility for contacts with Parliament.
He was one of the first advisors chosen by King Mohammed VI in 1999, as a project manager in the royal office.
