The Competition Council indicated in a release on Friday that it has decided to reopen its investigation relating to the suspected presence of anti-competitive behavior in the fuel distribution market.
This decision is result of amendments to the legislative framework governing competition through Law 40.21, which concerns the modification and execution of Law 104.12 on pricing freedom, and Law 41.21, which concerns the alteration and addition of Law 20.13 on competition.
These revisions aim to improve the accuracy of the procedures in place within the Council, as well as to reinforce the legal guarantees of the parties involved following the publication of this law in the Official Bulletin next week and its subsequent entry into force.
According to these amendments, an investigation will be held, and a report will be presented to the Council following the procedure that falls within the framework of Law 104.12 which has been amended, in particular Articles 31, 33 bis, 37, 38 bis and 39.
