Israeli startup QD-SOL, based in Ness Tziona, claimed the first-place prize of $500,000 USD in the Aviram Awards competition held in Morocco on May 16. QD-SOL’s revolutionary technology utilizes solar energy to produce green hydrogen from water. The competition showcased the ingenuity of startup enterprises from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, with other Israeli companies also making their mark.
Also among the finalists was the Israeli company Avertto, which sought to commercialize an easily decipherable stroke alert device for high-risk populations.
Former U.S. President Bill Clinton, participating on behalf of the Clinton Foundation, applauded the Aviram Awards competition for finding a common ground between entrepreneurs and their motivation to benefit humanity. He emphasized the need for the business sector to consider its impact on society and to strive to make a difference in areas such as climate and education.
The success of Israeli startups in the Aviram Awards further solidifies Israel’s position as a global leader in clean-tech entrepreneurship.
