U.S. President Joe Biden fell on stage at a graduation ceremony for the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado on Thursday.
The president dropped to his knees but was quickly helped back to his feet by officials.
The White House communications director Ben LaBolt tweeted that Biden was fine.
“There was a sandbag on stage while he was shaking hands,” he wrote.
“I got sandbagged!” the president joked to reporters as he arrived back at the White House that evening.
Biden has endured previous stumbles in public, including falling to the ground during a bike ride last year in Delaware. He’s also been seen slipping on the stairs as he boards Air Force One.
In recent physicals, Biden’s doctor has examined the president’s stiff gait and determined that it is a result of “wear and tear” effects on Biden’s spine.
The latest summary of Biden’s current health status is dated February 16, 2023, and indicates that the president remains fit for duty and that he fully executes all of his responsibilities without any exemptions or accommodations.
