A Moroccan delegation participated in two days of discussions in Abu Dhabi with Emirati officials in preparation for the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (COP28), to be held in the UAE in November, tweeted COP28 UAE’s official account on Wednesday.
The delegation was led by Morocco’s Director of Global Affairs at the Foreign Ministry, Ismail Chakouri.
Members of the delegation held discussions with Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology of the UAE Sultan Al-Jaber, President-designate of the COP28 Adnan Amin, and Director General of the Conference Majid Al-Suwaidi.
The meetings are aimed at strengthening collaborative initiatives to promote the COP28 inclusion agenda for sustainable Climate Action solutions.
In this vein, the Emirati officials expressed their appreciation for Morocco’s involvement and commitment to international and regional efforts to combat climate change.
Morocco had assumed the presidency of the 22nd Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP22).
Around 20,000 delegates from 196 countries took part in the COP 22 climate change conference.
