Zambia has renewed, on Tuesday, its firm support for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco and endorsement of the 2007 Moroccan autonomy initiative as the sole credible and realistic solution to the fake dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
This came in a joint statement following a meeting between Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita and his Zambian peer Stanley Kakubo.
Zambia welcomed efforts by the United Nations as the exclusive framework to achieve a realistic, practical, and lasting solution to the conflict over the Moroccan Sahara, according to the statement.
The same source noted that the ministers expressed satisfaction with the “positive development” in bilateral relations over the past years, evidenced by the opening of the Zambian embassy in Rabat and a consulate in Laayoune in October 2020.
On this occasion, Stanley Kakubo handed a letter sent by President of the Republic of Zambia Hakainde Hichilema to King Mohammed VI.
