The far right-wing Spanish Party “Vox” was unable to secure enough votes in the occupied enclaves of Sebta and Melilla as part of the regional ballot rout that took place last Sunday.
The far-right party relied heavily on these elections to gain access to the councils of the two occupied cities.
The party has always been critical of Morocco’s position on the two enclaves.
The party’s vice president had even accused Morocco of buying votes in the cities via Coalición Por Melilla.
Deputy spokesman for “Ciudadanos”, Edmundo Bal, claimed that Morocco had a role in the outcome of these elections.
Moroccan Government spokesperson Mustafa Baitas had responded to such accusations by saying that Morocco respects the “sovereignty” of the neighboring country and does not interfere in its domestic affairs.
According to “Vozpopuli” website, the Spanish National Police had asked its Moroccan counterpart for increased border monitoring in order to locate the said mail votes in Melilla.
