Transportation Minister and former Israeli Defense Forces Spokeswoman Miri Regev said on Monday that Israel would soon declare its position on the contentious status of the Sahara, Israeli channel “I24” reported Monday.
When Regev was asked about Israel’s position regarding Sahara, the Israeli minister said that the Jewish state “understands the importance of this issue for Moroccans.”
“Relations with Morocco are of the utmost importance to Israel, and I am sure that the government will take a position on this issue very soon,” added the minister.
During her visit to Morocco, she and her Moroccan counterpart, Mohamed Abdeljalil, signed three transportation deals to facilitate exchanges between Israel and Morocco.
The agreements will allow Israeli driver’s licenses to be used on the roads in Morocco, to encourage direct shipping between the two countries, and to facilitate exchanges related to road safety and transportation innovation.
“The Abraham Accords will also allow Morocco to be a bridge between Israel and African countries in all possible areas of development,” Regev added.
The head of the Israeli mission in Morocco, Shai Cohen, and professionals from the transport ministries of the two countries were also present during Regev’s visit.
The State of Israel took part in the 15th annual International Exhibition of Agriculture (SIAM) in Meknes for the first time.
