Agadir’s Appeal Court sentenced 6 sex predators to one year in prison with no remission for repeatedly raping and impregnating a 16 years old girl, residing at Akka Ighane, Tata Province (central Morocco).
4 defendants were released after serving their sentences, the fifth is on the run, while the sixth (a minor) spent 8 months in a juvenile detention center.
The Court convicted the defendants of raping the victim without violence on Dec 13, 2022.
The victim’s parents filed a complaint in Tata’s Court of First Instance in March 2022 after discovering that their daughter was three-month pregnant.
The main suspect, who is accused of taking the victim’s virginity, is her sports coach in a local women’s football team. She said that he lured her to his home and raped her in September 2021.
The other defendants are the main suspect’s brother (minor) and two of his friends, in addition to his cousin (still wanted) and another person.
The first hearing at Agadir’s Appeal Court will be held on May 31.
In a similar happening, the Rabat Appeal Court had upped the sentences against two sex predators, who raped and impregnated a girl aged 12 in Tifelt (Northwestern Morocco), to ten years in prison each.
The main offender was given a twenty-year jail time for the rape and impregnation of the victim. The convicts had initially light sentences of two years each.
