Israeli Transport Minister and former Israel Defense Forces Spokeswoman, Miri Regev, arrived in Morocco on Sunday, becoming the first Israeli transport minister to do so.
During her week-long visit, she aims to strengthen transportation cooperation between the two countries, including meeting with her Moroccan counterpart, Minister Mohamed Abdeljalil, in the hopes of coming to far-reaching accords pertaining to transportation between the two countries.
One of the key objectives of the visit is to explore the Moroccan transportation system, in particular, railway and highway networks. Regev also seeks to enhance the bilateral recognition of drivers’ licenses between Israel and Morocco, strengthen agreements on maritime issues, and establish direct routes between their respective ports. The discussions will focus on innovative technologies in transportation, such as autonomous and intelligent transport systems.
Accompanied by a delegation of business leaders, the Israeli minister is particularly interested in Morocco’s experience with high-speed trains. She plans to travel from Rabat to Tangier on the Al Boraq high-speed train to gain insight on Morocco’s expertise in this field.
This visit holds great significance in fostering stronger bilateral ties, promoting transportation cooperation, and facilitating mutual academic and practical exchanges between Israel and Morocco.
