The African Union’s Specialized Technical Committee (STC) on Youth, Culture and Sports congratulated Morocco on April 26 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for hosting the Pan-African Youth Union, according to the Ministry of Culture.
In a press release, the Ministry pointed out that Morocco was represented at the ministerial meeting by a delegation chaired by Minister of Culture Mohammed Mehdi Bensaid, in the presence of the Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the African Union and UNECA Mohamed Arrouchi.
The Committee recommended the renewal of relations between the Pan-African Youth Union and the African Union Commission by signing a memorandum of understanding.
Bensaid stressed in the convention that the recommendation to renew relations between the Pan-African Youth Union and the African Union Commission would consolidate the Kingdom’s vision on youth issues, strengthen the presence of African youth at the international level, and develop their expertise.
The Cultural Minister affirmed his support to the Pan-African Youth Union, affirming that Morocco welcomes this memorandum of understanding between the Union and the AU Commission.
Morocco signed an agreement with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) last November. The agreement aims to make Moroccan expertise in heritage protection available to other countries in sub-Saharan Africa, and to build the capacity of museum curators to help combat the illicit trafficking of cultural property, conserve collections, draw up inventories, and promote the role of museums in African societies.
The Pan-African Youth Union is an organization that Morocco revived to invest in African youth, as the African Continent is home to around 600 million youngsters.
