Moroccan Soufiane El Berrak won, Saturday, the “Reader of the Year” prize after competing in the flagship Ithra reading contest held in Saudi Arabia.
The closing ceremony of the competition took place in Dhahran in the presence of Morocco’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Mustapha Al Mansouri, as well as many writers and readers.
Abdulrahman Al-Awfi from Saudi Arabia won the “Reading Ambassadors” award, while Dhahran National Schools won the title of the “Reading School”.
The participant Balqis Al-Solan from Saudi Arabia won the title of “Public Voice”.
Moroccan reader Sakina Bouchatab reached the semis of the contest, in which 10 readers and writers were picked.
Ithra’s reading contest Iqraa 2023 endeavors to strengthen writing, reading, creativity, and innovation skills.
Director of the Ithra Center Abdullah Khaled Al Rashe said that the program started as a national competition and became an Arab program, adding that more than 125 thousand readers participated in the 10th edition of the competition.
