President Tayyip Erdogan won, Sunday, Turkey’s runoff election with data from both state-run Anadolu agency and opposition ANKA news agency giving him an edge with about 97% of the ballot boxes opened.
The head of the High Election Board said at a news conference that Erdogan was leading his competitor Kemal Kilicdaroglu with 52.1% versus 47.9% of votes.
Victory extends Erdogan’s two-decade reign.
Candidate for Turkish presidential elections Sinan Ogan, who is supported by the ATA Alliance and finished third with more than 5% of votes, had announced his support for Erdogan in the runoff.
