The Spanish National Court initiated on Tuesday the trial of an Algerian extremist from the Tindouf camps, who was arrested in Mar. 2022 by the Spanish police for terrorism, spreading jihadi propaganda, and voicing hatred for Spain on social media.
The extremist was closely linked to Adnane Abu Walid Sahrawi, a former head of the so-called “Islamic State in the Sahara” who was killed by the French army in Aug. 2021, EFE news agency had reported.
The separatist confessed during the investigations that he had tried to join the terrorist group ISIS twice. The prosecution is requiring a four year and a half sentence with no remission.
Since August 2019, the accused has been running two groups on social media, posting extremist content and images intended for 185 people living in different countries such as Spain, Algeria, Germany, Turkey, Syria, and Jordan.
