Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana is scheduled to make an official trip to Morocco early June, which is a groundbreaking development, as reported by Israel National News on Thursday.
The invitation from the Speaker of the Moroccan Parliament to Ohana is a significant milestone in their growing diplomatic ties, which have evolved through ongoing collaborations between their offices.
Morocco’s decision to reestablish official relations with Israel was a turning point, in line with a series of normalization agreements brokered by the Trump administration in late 2020 between Israel and several Arab nations.
This visit follows in the footsteps of other Israeli officials, such as former Foreign Minister Yair Lapid and former Defense Minister Benny Gantz, who have already visited Morocco.
Foreign Minister Eli Cohen and U.S. officials are working to organize the Negev Forum, which is scheduled to take place in Morocco next month. It was originally planned for March, but was postponed due to tensions between Israel and several neighboring Arab counties.
