Hollywood icon Robert de Niro expressed, on Thursday, how enamored he is with Marrakech in particular and with Morocco in general, saying that he wants to shoot some movies in the country.
De Niro, 79, one of the most awarded actors in the movie industry has joined a growing number of A-list showbiz celebrities who have expressed their love for Marrakech and Morocco.
This statement, made to news outlet M24, came after the opening of his Hotel in Marrakech “Nobu Hotel Marrakech” which he co-founded with Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa and American director Meir Tepper.
The actor, who has one of the most illustrious and diverse filmographies, has elevated the standing of Morocco as a global film destination.
His most recent visit to the country was in 2018 to participate in the International Film Festival of Marrakech, where he received the Golden Star in recognition of his exceptional career as an actor. The star’s most famous roles were in “the Godfather 2” (1974), “Taxi Driver” (1976), “Raging Bull” (1980), “Casino” (1995), and “Heat” (1995).
