The dams located in the Northern region of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima reached over 954 million cubic meters of water, the Ministry of Water and Equipment reported on Thursday.
The dams, which have a storage capacity of over 1.721 billion m3, have so far reached 954.09 million m3, i.e. a filling rate of 55.43%, compared to around 901.6 million m3 year on year (52.38%).
In the Loukkos basin, the Oued El Makhazine dam (Larache province) reached 531.4 million m3, a filling rate of around 79%, versus 456.6 million m3 during the same period a year earlier (67.9%), while the Dar Khrofa dam stood at 135.9 million m3 (28.3%).
The April 9 dam (Tangier-Assilah prefecture) totaled 57.2 million m3 of water, a filling rate of 19.1%, while the Ibn Battouta dam hit 55% of its storage capacity (16 million m3).
The Moulay El Hassan Ben El Mahdi dam in the Fahs-Anjra province had a filling rate of 64.7% (15.2 million m3).
In the province of Tetouan, the Nakhla dam reached 82.9% of its capacity (3.49 million m3), while the Asharif Al Idrissi dam posted a filling rate of 88.5% (119.8 million m3).
The report also noted that the Tanger Méditerranée dam’s capacity reached 97.5% (21.5 million m3), and the Abdelkrim Al Khattabi dam located in the province of Al Hoceima stood at 33.9% (4 million m3).
In the M’diq-Fnideq prefecture, the Smir dam’s capacity was 94.3% (36.7 million m3), while the Jomoua dam posted a filling rate of 21.4% (1.1 million m3).
