The Central Banker Report Cards, an annual publication by Global Finance since 1994, have recently assessed the performance of central bank governors across 101 countries. In these rankings, Abdellatif Jouahari, Governor of the Moroccan Central Bank, has secured an impressive position in Africa’s 20 top-performing central bank governors list.
Only three central bankers representing Africa managed to make it to the top 20 global list. Lesetja Kganyago, Governor of the South African Reserve Bank, achieved an outstanding grade of A, while Harvesh Kumar Seegolam, Governor of the Bank of Mauritius, and Abdellatif Jouahari earned both an A-.
Abdellatif Jouahari has been the Governor of the Central Bank of Morocco since 2003. He is known for his sound monetary policies, leading to macroeconomic stability and economic development. His achievements include maintaining price stability, managing inflation, and promoting financial inclusion.
The ranking system utilizes a scale from “A” to “F” to evaluate the success of central bank governors in various areas, including inflation control, economic growth, currency stability, and interest rate management.
