In a moment of Macron mimicry eliciting what many would consider to be not his finest hour in Lyon in 2021, Algeria’s presidential motorcade was similarly pelted with eggs–courtesy of pro-Hirak Algerian activists–on its way to the National Palace of Belém in Lisbon, according to different Algerian Facebook postings on Tuesday.
A second video was widely circulated on social media, showing the activists chanting slogans calling for the release of political prisoners and the establishment of a non-military, civilian regime.
The same video showed Algerians clamoring for a transition to a democratic regime, as they label Tebboune a military puppet.
Tebboune’s visit to Portugal comes two weeks after the 14th Luso-Moroccan High-Level Meeting.
