Morocco strongly condemned the new incursion Sunday of a member of the Israeli government in the Al-Aqsa Mosque, reaffirmed Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita Monday.
This came in a joint press briefing with Bourita’s Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba, during which Morocco’s FM said that these actions have become repetitive and provocative. He stressed that Morocco calls for the immediate cessation of all measures that affect the legal and historical situation of the Holy City.
Such violations in occupied Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in particular, are unanimously rejected at the international level in the sense that they only serve to fuel tensions and undermine efforts to secure the occupied Palestinian territories, in addition to their negative impact on all prospects for peace in the region, added Bourita.
The Moroccan top official also emphasized that the peace option based on dialogue and negotiation is the only way to achieve a final solution to the Palestinian question–through the acknowledgement of two states with the explicit establishment of a Palestinian state per the July 1967 agreement–with East Al Quds as the capital.
