Morocco will host, from May 23 to 26, the second African election observers training, a hallmark of the successful collaboration between Morocco and the African Union in support of political governance in Africa.
Organized in partnership with the department led by Commissioner Bankolé Adeoye, this second edition draws its strength from the call by the 36th Summit of the African Union, held in February 2023, to continue this exercise for better political governance in Africa, through credible and transparent electoral processes, said the Moroccan Foreign Ministry in a statement.
Following the success of the first edition, this second one will be marked by an increase in the number of beneficiaries, from 32 to 61 from the five regions of the continent, in addition to 10 young Moroccan observers. A quota of 50% will be granted to women.
This year’s session will focus on practical exercises and simulations covering the entirety of the electoral process, based on the AU’s frame of reference and the Moroccan experience, shared by experts from the Interior Ministry and the human rights watchdog (CNDH).
