Morocco emerged as the winner of the 2023 African Mathematics Olympiad (PAMO) in its 30th edition held in Kigali (Rwanda), on May 12-22. Moroccan student Hiba El Farchioui was crowned the African Mathematics Queen.
Morocco harvested two gold medals, three silver ones, and a bronze one. The North African country dominated the event with 159 points, followed by Algeria (118 points) and South Africa (105).
Hiba El Farchioui, who outperformed competitors from 32 countries, is a Moroccan public-school student, who is currently pursuing her studies at Al Joulane – Biougra – high school in the province of Chtouka Ait Baha.
On this occasion, the Ministry of National Education congratulated the Moroccan team for their outstanding performance in the pan-African competition.
Morocco had won the same title in 2021, defeating South Africa and Tunisia.
