Head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus praised, on Saturday in Geneva, Morocco’s efforts to generalize health coverage.
In a meeting with Minister of Health Khalid Ait Taleb, on the sidelines of the 76th World Health Assembly (May 21-30), the WHO chief emphasized the importance of improving primary health care and manufacturing vaccines and medications to achieve African health sovereignty.
Ghebreysus thanked Morocco’s minister, via his twitter account, for the country’s leadership in the health system and social protection reforms to ensure health coverage for all Moroccans. “We also appreciate your commitment to expand local production to support #VaccinEquity in Africa.”

In addition, the UN leader stressed the importance of boosting preparedness and response to medical emergencies, drawing on the experience of the Covid-19 pandemic, which prompted a social and economic shift.
Ait Taleb lauded the WHO’s efforts to improve global health, highlighting the innovative projects launched by Morocco in accordance with King Mohammed VI’s directives, particularly in the areas of social protection and healthcare reform.
