Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken affirmed, Sunday, full U.S. support for UNSG Personal Envoy Staffan de Mistura as he intensifies the UN process on the Sahara toward an enduring political solution to the Sahara conflict, according to the U.S. Department of State.
This came in a phone call with Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita during which the two officials reviewed regional and global developments and emphasized their ongoing commitment to further strengthening the U.S.-Morocco bilateral security and economic partnership.
U.S. senior official lauded King Mohammed VI’s pivotal role in advancing regional peace and his leadership in promoting a secure and prosperous future for Israelis and Palestinians.
Blinken and Bourita also discussed the importance of the Negev Forum as they affirmed the importance of full adherence to the recent ceasefire in Israel and Gaza.
They also discussed the Russia-Ukraine crisis and the need to advance a solution to the conflict in Syria.
