Moroccan cyclists, Abderrahmane Serhani (65) and Driss Fatihi (37), who disappeared for over a month on the border between Burkina Faso and Niger, have been found safe and sound.
The cyclists had left Morocco on Jan. 19, 2023, through the El Guerguerat passage in south Morocco and traveled to several African countries before entering Burkina Faso.
Security cooperation between the Moroccan intelligence services and the Nigerien counterpart enabled to spot the missing cyclists and set them free on May 14.
According to Moroccan journalist Mohammed El Feniche, the cyclists were held by an armed group on the border between Burkina Faso and Niger.
The cyclists received medical care and will be brought back to Morocco.
