US Special Envoy To Monitor And Combat Antisemitism Ambassador Deborah Lipstadt paid a visit to Essaouira on Thursday and was welcomed by King Mohammed VI’s advisor André Azoulay.
Deborah Lipstadt visited Dar Souiri and the Jewish Museum Bayt Dakira “House of Memory” where she encountered civil society representatives, students, and religious figures.
Lipstadt and Azoulay explored Morocco’s age-old Jewish civilization as she applauded the spirit of peaceful coexistence and tolerance between Jewish and Muslim people.
The Ambassador also visited the Abidari Ghafari School where the children presented recitals and songs in both Arabic and Hebrew.
“I’m very pleased to experience first-hand how Morocco has highlighted its Jewish heritage and historical coexistence in its national curricula”, tweeted Ambassador Lipstadt.
