Morocco’s U-17 football team secured their spot in the semifinals of the African Cup of Nations (CAN U17) and the World Cup after defeating host nation Algeria 3-0 in the quarterfinals, at Mohamed Hamlaoui Stadium, Constantine.
Zakaria Ouazane scored twice (28th and 57th minute) while Adam Chakir added a goal in the 86th minute. Morocco will face the winner of the Mali-Congo quarterfinal match in the semifinals.
Morocco dominated from the start in the Maghreb rivalry, applying pressure on its opponent and exploiting the spacing gaps allowed by Algeria.
Morocco finished as the leader of Group B in the CAN U17-2023 with six points, while Algeria finished second in Group A with four points.
