Morocco has been designated, Wednesday at the UN headquarters in Vienna, as the new president of the United Nations International Narcotics Control Board (INCB), tasked with monitoring the implementation of UN drug control conventions.
Professor Jallal Toufiq, director of the Moroccan Observatory on Drug and Addiction, will hold the new position. He succeeds Indian expert Jagjit Pavadia and has been a member of the INCB since 2015.
The election honors Morocco’s contribution to combatting the global drug plague on the international arena, as well as its advocacy for sub-regional, regional, and international cooperation in this regard.
The INCB publishes an annual report that provides a comprehensive overview of the drug control situation worldwide.
