An announcement from the authorities of Fam El Hisn (Tata province) stated that the National Anti-Locust Center will work in coordination with the concerned parties to spray pesticides and other chemicals using specialized aircraft to battle the swarms of locusts that have invaded the region.
As the operation is expected to commence on Thursday, the local authorities call upon all inhabitants of the Oued Daraa region–including travelers, farmers, and herders–to leave the area and evacuate livestock as soon as possible.
The competent authorities called on residents to ensure that water supply points and irrigation canals are covered, and to take necessary measures to ensure the success of the operation. They also advised against any visits to the area until 15 days subsequent to the termination of the project in order to avoid potential health risks.
