The Kabylia Self-Determination Movement (MAK) and the Kabylia Provisional Government in Exile (Anavad) delegations, led by their leader Ferhat Mehenni, are on a visit to Washington to report the dire conditions prevailing in Kabylia to Pennsylvania State Senator Bob Casey.
Mehenni condemned the Algerian regime’s harsh treatment and violence against Kabylians, including kidnappings, torture, psychological harassment and unlawful arrest of activists, wrote Kabyle’s information agency SIWEL.
He recalled the “zero kabyle” genocide and the manipulation of legal texts such as article 87bis to arbitrarily define the MAK as a “terrorist organization” so that the regime could use all legal means to justify its abuse in utter impunity.
The president urged the senator to make Kabylia’s voice heard and convey its agony and desire for self-determination to all U.S. senators.
Bob Casey’s assistant was very receptive and sympathetic to the tumultuous situation in Kabylia and promised to transmit the message to Senator Bob Casey.
