Casablanca’s police services reported that 270 hooligans and people with a criminal record, including 53 minors, had been arrested following the game between the Tihad Athletic Sport (TAS) and Club Omnisports De Meknès (CODM) held in Casablanca.
A police press release said that law enforcement officers carried out large-scale operations to counter riots by fans affiliated with CODM, who attempted to forcibly enter the stadium despite the decision to hold the match behind closed doors.
The football hooliganism resulted in damages to public and private properties (21 cars), assault on policemen (40 injured), and threat to citizens’ security. Knives and other sharp tools were seized.
124 adults and 2 minors were remanded in police custody, while 96 people of age and 48 underage individuals were bailed out.
