Minister Delegate for the National Defense Administration Abdellatif Loudiyi, received on Wednesday, a delegation from the U.S. Congress led by Armed Services Committee Chairperson Michael Dennis Rogers.
Congressional members expressed their admiration for the major reforms achieved by the Kingdom of Morocco under the leadership of King Mohammed VI during their encounter, as reported by a National Defense Administration release.
The delegation paid tribute to the distinguished level of the long-standing amicable relationship between the two countries.
The mission also evoked the Kingdom’s instrumental role in achieving peace and stability in the Mediterranean, Africa, and the Middle East regions.
Loudiyi, for his part, echoed the Kingdom’s eagerness to expand the objectives of the tripartite agreement inked between the United States, Morocco, and Israel in Dec. 2020, which recognizes Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara.
He also highlighted the importance of bilateral military cooperation, training initiatives, and the exchange of experiences and expertise reflected, in particular by the regular exercise of the African Lion military drill, the 2023 iteration of which will prove to be the U.S. Africa Command’s largest and most acclaimed military exercise.
The two parties expressed their common aspiration to further strengthen the foundation of their bilateral relations in future policy initiatives, especially in accordance with the 2020-2030 road map agreed upon during the U.S. Secretary of Defense’s visit to Morocco.
