For the first time, the State of Israel took part in the 15th annual International Exhibition of Agriculture (SIAM) in Meknes with a kiosk, reported Israeli channel “I24 news”.
“We are very pleased and very proud to have an Israeli stand for the first time in Morocco. Ten companies came to sell their products and, as you know, Israel has a lot to offer in terms of agriculture. We are looking for collaboration with Moroccan partners,” announced the mission head of the Israeli liaison office in Morocco, Eyal David.
This participation is considered a significant step for economic relations between the two countries and paves the way for new business opportunities for Israeli companies.
In this vein, Israeli Minister of Economy and Industry Nir Barkat revealed in Meknes on Wednesday that the opening of an economic affairs office in Morocco will occur at some point in the near future.
“We intend to open an Israeli economic office in Morocco and we are building bridges of peace in the Middle East through the economy,” said Barkat during his meeting with his Moroccan counterpart Riyad Mezzour at this year’s event.
The Israeli official also confirmed that the Kingdom is a strategic partner for Israel in the agricultural field.
“The Kingdom, given its strategic geographical position, is an important agricultural market with which Israel could collaborate successfully,” added Barkat.
The President of the Morocco-Israel Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIMI), Joseph Levy, reiterated the willingness of his country to collaborate with Morocco as a crossroads between the African and European continents, noting also the crucial role of the agrarian sector in the Moroccan economy.
