Jason F. Isaacson–Head of the Political Affairs at the American Jewish Committee (AJC)–praised, Morocco’s religious minorities protection on Wednesday in Rabat.
Isaacson is currently on a professional mission to the Kingdom as the head of a delegation from the U.S.-based organization.
“The role of His Majesty the King, Commander of the Faithful, in protecting religious freedom in Morocco and the Jewish community, which has been an integral part of the history of this Kingdom for centuries, is widely recognized both in the United States and by Jewish people around the world and, of course, by Israel,” said Isaacson.
Isaacson also recalled that the AJC is a strong supporter of Morocco-U.S. ties, expressing his satisfaction with the maturation of these relations in multiple arenas.
The AJC also encouraged the resumption of Moroccan-Israeli diplomatic ties.
The U.S. delegation’s discussions with Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita also focused strongly on Morocco’s cooperation with the United States in counterterrorism and on its sovereignty over the Sahara, a stance which the AJC has long fiercely supported.
