The vast majority of Colombian Senate Foreign Affairs Committee members condemned, on Wednesday, the participation of a representative of the Polisario separatist movement in a Senate symposium on African-Colombian relations, and categorically rejected any type of relationship with the phoney entity.
Eight out of twelve senators on the committee signed a petition stating that the separatist movement is neither recognized as a state by the United Nations, nor is it acknowledged as a legitimate sovereign entity by the nation of Colombia.
They also reiterated the fundamental principles of respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, and firmly reject any kind of relationship with the separatists.
The signatories noted that a petition brought forth by the Senate on Oct. 19, 2022 was signed by 63 of 108 senators, and expressed an unwavering position upholding the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco in describing it as an ally.
The senators renewed their support for the Moroccan initiative for autonomy enshrined in U.N. Security Council resolutions since 2007.
