King Mohammed VI declared that the start of Amazigh year will become an official paid national holiday like the first day in the hegira year or the Gregorian calendar.
A statement by the Royal Office said, on Wednesday, that the Monarch gave his instructions to implement this decision, which reflects the King’s high regard for the Amazigh culture as part and parcel of the rich Moroccan identity. It also enshrines the constitutionality of the Amazigh language as an official language in Morocco, besides Arabic.
