A third RAM plane departing Sudan–carrying 154 Moroccan evacuees and one Senegalese student–left the coastal city of Port Sudan on Friday and arrived at Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport.
A total of 293 Moroccans had arrived on Wednesday from the war-torn nation on two RAM flights carrying 136 and 157 passengers, respectively.
Following an uptick of violence in Khartoum, King Mohammed VI ordered the airlift operation to ensure the safe return of Moroccans residing in Sudan. Two hundred Moroccans were transported by the Moroccan Embassy in a land convoy from the capital city to Port Sudan.
Sudan’s people have endured violent clashes between the nation’s army and the Rapid Support Forces network (RSF), which have resulted in hundreds of fatalities and tens of thousands of injuries since April 15 of this year.
