Morocco’s U17 football team took, on Friday, a direct flight to Constantine to take part in the 14th African Cup of Nations (CAN) in Algeria, according to the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) official website.
The team will play against South Africa on April 30, followed by Nigeria on May 3 (both in Constantine), and Zambia on May 6 (in Algiers).
Morocco did not participate in the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship Algeria 2022 (CHAN), which was scheduled from Jan. 13 to Feb. 4, due to Algeria’s refusal to open its airspace to the Moroccan Team’s plane.
After severing diplomatic ties with Rabat, Algeria had closed its airspace to all Moroccan civilian and military aircraft in September 2021.
