US President Joe Biden, 80, said on Tuesday that he wants to run again for office in the 2024 term, a candidacy that would make him the oldest American Pres. ever, Reuters reported.
In a video published by his new campaign organizers, Biden declared it his mission to safeguard American democracy, said the same source.
“When I ran for president four years ago, I said we’re in a battle for the soul of America, and we still are,” Biden said, adding, “Let’s finish this job. I know we can”.
Biden called Republican policies “threats to American liberty,” pledging to resist moves to limit women’s healthcare, slash Social Security, and prohibit books.
Biden’s popularity ratings remained at 39%; he would be 86 by the conclusion of a potential second term, over a decade longer than the typical man in the United States.
