The US and the UK urged their armed forces to assist fellow embassy employees in leaving Sudan, as warring military factions clashed in the capital Khartoum.
The US Embassy was evacuated using less than 100 members of special operations forces, including a small number of diplomats from other countries,” CNN reported.
In a statement, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the US Embassy in Khartoum had been “temporarily suspended.”
The outbreak of violence eight days ago between the army and the paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has caused a humanitarian crisis, and claimed the lives of 400 people.
