Police and customs services in Tangier Med Port (North) foiled, on Saturday, an international drug smuggling operation, and seized 5 tons and 438 Kg of cannabis resin (Chira).
The illegal substance was carefully hidden inside an international transportation truck bound for Spain, a statement by the national police DGSN said.
Police sniffer dogs spotted the drug inside the vehicle’s iron structure.
The 45y truck driver, a Moroccan, presented forged export documents upon inspection which raised suspicions and prompted further search.
The driver was remanded in police custody to complete the investigation, under the supervision of the public prosecutor.
