The Higher Institute of Information and Communication (ISIC) recently hosted a ceremony to announce the creation of the Accredited Journalists Club (CJAM), a legal body representing correspondents of foreign media operating in Morocco.
In a press release, the Club said that it is mandated with building the capacities and enhancing the knowledge of its members, while enriching public debate on information and communication.
The ceremony was attended by a number of journalists representing different foreign media outlets, representatives of government ministries, and international organizations.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Club’s President Jalal Al Makhfi said that the newly-created body is meant to reinforce the plurality of international media in Morocco and to promote diversity in the media landscape.
He added that the Club is open to all institutions, and all actors operating in the media sector, with the aim of promoting constructive dialogue to facilitate the work of reporters accredited to Morocco.
The executive board includes Vice President Fadwa Mourabiti, Treasurer Hicham Alaoui, Secretary General Anas Ayach and their deputies, Zakia Abdennebi and Ahmed El Jechtimi, as well as advisors Samira Maghdad, Adil Zoubairi and Abdelmounaim Amrani.
