Morocco’s inflation rate accelerated to 8.2% in March compared to the same month in 2022, a raise of 0,1% from February, according to the Statistics and Forecasts Office (HCP).
This increase is a result of the 16.1% rise in the food index and the 3.0% increase in the non-food index.
For non-food products, the variations range from an increase of 0.4% for “Health” to 6.2% for “Restaurants and hotels”, added the HCP.
Fruits witnessed a climb of 3.4% between February and March, fish and seafood rose by 2.2%, milk, cheese and eggs and coffee, tea and cocoa by 0.3%, sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery by 0.2%, and vegetables, bread and cereals with 0.1%.
Prices fell by 0.8% for meat and 0.1% for oils and fats.
For non-food products, the decline was mainly in the prices of fuels with 3.6%.
