A British man was sentenced to ten years in prison in Morocco after being found guilty of possessing and using counterfeit money in the city of Marrakech, reported the “Daily Mail”.
Oliver Andrews, 29, was arrested along with a friend on Nov. 11, 2022, barely hours after returning from a nightclub on the final night of their vacation.
They were in police custody for five months and were given recently a 10y sentence each.
Andrews claims he had no idea the money he spent was fake.
Andrews’ lawyer told the BBC earlier this year that he and his companion had been accused of establishing an organized crime ring, in addition to possessing and using counterfeit money.
