Russia had cleared Morocco of the accusation of sending 130 T-72B tanks to Ukraine, Russian news agency (TASS) had reported Monday, quoting Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova.
Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita had reaffirmed, on multiple occasions, that Morocco is not party to the Ukraine-Russia armed conflict.
According to Zakharova, Prague seized the tanks, sent by Morocco to be upgraded and transferred them to Kyiv.
She recalled that Morocco had signed, with the Czech Republic, an upgrading agreement of 130 T-72B tanks, but the armored vehicles ended up in Ukraine.
She added that 74 armored vehicles were de facto expropriated by the Czech side for further transfer to Kyiv. Only 56 tanks were restored to the kingdom when the repair was completed, added the same source.
“The Moroccans were effectively presented with a fait accompli,” the Russian official said.
