Spain’s PSOE party took its distance from the statement made by second deputy prime minister and minister of labor Yolanda Diaz on Morocco, El Mundo newspaper reported on Monday.
In an interview broadcast by “La Sexta” on Sunday, Diaz had referred to the north African country as a “dictatorship”.
PSOE spokesperson and minister of education Pilar Alegria said, at a press conference, that the statement reflects a personal opinion and not the party’s.
No Podemos ministers attended the Morocco-Spain high level meeting (Feb. 1-2) where several agreements on different matters were inked.
Since Spain’s shift in its position over the Sahara, bilateral ties have progressed tremendously.
