The Spanish government has approved a five million Euro loan to Morocco earmarked for the construction of two water treatment plants, according to Spanish news website “The Objective”.
Spanish official sources said the initiative is of “strategic importance for Spain” as it means taking a quantum leap in bilateral trade relations.
The National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) has shown great interest in receiving these funds. Both countries anticipate that the transaction and ensuing project will move them closer in trade relations.
Specifically, the project consists of the supply and installation of two compact reverse osmosis treatment plants, along with a five-year maintenance package.
Reverse osmosis is a water purification process by which a semi-permeable membrane (synthetic lining) is used to filter out unwanted molecules and large particles from drinking water.
